Dubai-UAE: 30 November, 2011 – Dubai Properties Group (DPG), a member of Dubai Holding, has announced an array of activities to be held at ‘The Walk’ at the Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the UAE National Day.

The Community Development Authority (CDA) will host a celebration area in the Rimal sector at JBR, featuring local performers and serving traditional cuisine. A demarcated Kids Zone will additionally host interactive games, face painting, and treats for children of residents and visitors alike. 

Mashreq Bank will recreate a heritage tent for patrons of ‘The Walk’ that will showcase cultural components such as Emirati delicacies and a traditional dance performance.

A ‘Ferrari Parade’, sponsored by the CDA with full support from the Dubai Police and the RTA, will serve as the highlight of the celebrations. A total of 50 Ferraris will depart from the Union Flag Pole on the Jumeirah Beach Road at approximately 9:30am. The parade will culminate at JBR, where it will travel the length of The Walk from the Murjan sector to the public parking area. The initiative is in support of children with special needs who will also participate in the parade. 

For safety reasons and due to the large volume of activities at ‘The Walk’, vehicular access to the venue will be carefully monitored by officials from Dubai Police and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). Traffic will be exclusively restricted to hotel, public transport and emergency services from 7.00pm on 02 December until 5.00am on 03 December.  

Due to the public holiday on 01 December, the same plans will be followed as a contingency in the eventuality of traffic congestion.

Visitors to the Walk are encouraged to use mass transit options provided by RTA – both the bus and the Metro are accessible to the Walk - or travel to the venue by taxi.  

The Walk at JBR is regarded as one of the most distinctive and popular entertainment and shopping destinations in the UAE. The unique 1.7km outdoor shopping boulevard boasts 305 shops, situated on both the plaza and ground levels. From its ideal beach front location to its wide-ranging retail and dining options, The Walk offers a unique experience for every age and every choice.
